

The planned transformation of the energy system in the EU and Germany offers strategic potential for the underground storage of alternative energy carriers at the Rüstringen site: existing crude oil caverns and available salt rights could be utilized in the future to develop storage infrastructure for alternative energy carriers.
Initial technical, economic, and permitting-related preparatory work has already been initiated.
